ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR 1.8, MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5]

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.8, MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].)

3.  Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.

4.  Remove the ECT sensor. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.8, MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].)

5.  Place the ECT sensor in water with a thermometer, and heat the water gradually.

6.  Measure the resistance between the ECT sensor terminals A and B using an ohmmeter.
