Self-diagnostic Function


Malfunction detection function

•  The malfunction detection function detects malfunctions occurring in the Bluetooth system (hands-free telephone (HF/TEL) system).


Memory function

•  The memory function converts a malfunction detected by the malfunction detection function to a DTC and stores it. The error currently occurring is stored as a present malfunction. Up to three DTCs (with audio unit), or six (with car-navigation unit) can be stored as a present malfunction. The error that has previously occurred is stored as a past malfunction. (with car-navigation unit) The DTCs, together with the number of times the ignition switch has been turned off after the occurrence of an error (maximum of 255 times), are stored as a past malfunction. (with car-navigation unit)


Display function

Without Using Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS) (On-board Diagnostic Test Mode)
•  To display DTCs on the information display that have been recorded in the memory function, activate the on-board diagnostic function by operating the audio unit/car-navigation unit. Refer to the Workshop Manual for the activation procedure of the on-board diagnostic function.

With Using Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS)
•  When a DTC inspection is performed using the Mazda modular diagnostic system (M-MDS), the malfunction diagnostics for the audio system and Bluetooth system is initiated. A maximum of 10 DTCs detected by the malfunction diagnostics are displayed. Refer the Workshop Manual for the DTC inspection procedure.
―  DTC 7-digit code definition
―  When related systems or components have failed, the CM stores the DTC of the malfunctioning part in the CM memory, and allows for the retrieval of the store data using scanning tool when necessary. The DTCs are indicated using seven digits. Each digit indicates the following.

Diagnostic Assist Function


With audio unit

•  The connection condition and specification of the Bluetooth system-related parts can be verified by displaying them in the information display. The password for the Bluetooth system, which is set by the user, can also be reset. Refer to the Workshop Manual for the diagnostic assist function activation procedure.
Software version verification
•  Displays the software version on the information display.
