Purpose

•  Battery conditions are monitored as basic information for determining the generator output current.

Function

•  The battery charge/discharge flow, battery voltage, and the battery ambient temperature are sent to the front body control module (FBCM) by LIN communication.

Construction

•  The current sensor is located at the battery negative terminal.

•  The current sensor consists of the following three main areas:
―  Voltage detecting area
―  Current detecting area
―  Temperature detecting area
•  LIN communication has been adopted to the current sensor for wiring harness simplification.

Operation

1.  The current sensor detects (1) the charge/discharge flow, battery voltage and battery ambient temperature from each detecting area sensor.

2.  The detected battery condition is sent (2) to the front body control module (FBCM) by LIN communication, and then it is sent (3) to the PCM by CAN communication from the front body control module (FBCM).
