Purpose

• The main relay supplies battery power intermittently to the engine control-related parts.

Function

• The main relay controls main relay energization according to the signal from the PCM to switch the contact point on/off.

Construction

• The main relay is located inside the relay and fuse block.

• A normally open relay has been adopted for the main relay.

• When electric current flows to the coil, the contact point is attracted by the generated electromagnetic power and switches on.

Operation

1. When the PCM receives (1) a power supply request signal, it flows (2) electric current to the main relay coil.

2. When electric current flows to the coil, the contact point is attracted by the generated electromagnetic power and switches on (3).

3. When the contact point switches on, battery power is supplied (4) to the engine control-related parts.
