DTC	U0403:00		Abnormal message from 4WD control module
DETECTION CONDITION		•  Correct data cannot be received from the 4WD control module with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION		•  Refer to “Fail-safe Function Malfunction Contents”. (See DTC TABLE [DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)].)
POSSIBLE CAUSE		•  4WD control module malfunction
SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM		Not applicable

Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY 4WD CONTROL MODULE DTC •  Using the M-MDS, perform the 4WD control module DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [ELECTRONIC 4WD CONTROL SYSTEM].) •  Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRONIC 4WD CONTROL SYSTEM].) DTC troubleshooting completed, then go to the next step
		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED •  Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the DSC HU/CM. (See CLEARING DTC [DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)].) •  Using the M-MDS, perform the DSC HU/CM DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)].) •  Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. •  If the malfunction recurs, replace the 4WD control module. (See 4WD CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT •  Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)].)
		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
