Removal

1.  Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Remove the snap pin from the tie-rod end.

3.  Loosen the tie-rod end locknut.

4.  Detach the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle using the SST.

5.  Remove the locknut from the tie-rod end.

6.  Place alignment marks as shown in the figure for proper installation.

7.  Remove the tie-rod end.

Installation

1.  Place alignment marks on the new tie-rod end in the same positions as the removed tie-rod end.

2.  Place alignment marks as shown in the figure for proper installation.

Note
•  "R" is inscribed on the right side of the tie-rod end and "L" is inscribed on the left side of the tie-rod end. Verify if the part is for the left or right side before installation because the left and right parts of the tie-rod end have different shapes.

3.  Adjust dimension A shown in the figure to the standard, then assemble the tie-rod end.

Standard
14.9—27.9 mm {0.59—1.09 in}
•  If not within the specification, make adjustments so that dimension A is within the specification.

4.  Install the tie-rod end to the steering knuckle.

5.  Install a new snap pin to the tie-rod end.

6.  Install the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  After installation, inspect the front wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (See FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT.)
