STEERING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. 1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) 3.  Grasp the shaded areas shown in the figure, and pull the steering switch in the direction of the arrow in the order of (1), (2) while detaching tabs A, tabs B.

4.  Insert the tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, while pressing the clip tabs in the direction of the arrows (1) shown in the figure, press the clips in the direction of the arrow (2) to detach the clip tabs from the steering wheel.

5.  Disconnect the steering switch connector.

6.  Remove the steering switch.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
