CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM OUTLINE

id012000145200

• The cruise control system allows the driver to maintain selected vehicle speed without operating the accelerator when driving on an open highway.
• The cruise actuator controls the throttle valve to maintain vehicle speed.
• The cruise control system is composed of the following parts:
- Cruise actuator
- Actuator cable
- Cruise control switch
- Vehicle speed signal input
- Brake switch
- Clutch switch (MTX)
- TR switch (ATX)
- Cruise set indicator light
- Cruise main indicator light

Component

Function

Remarks

Vehicle speed signal
Vehicle speed signal is sent to cruise control module (cruise actuator) from following devices
• ABS/TCS HU/CM (with ABS and TCS)
• ABS HU/CM (with ABS, without TCS)
-
Cruise control switch
ON/OFF
Controls ON/OFF of cruise control system main power.
In steering wheel
SET
Sets cruise control speed.
COAST
• Press and holding switch decreases set speed.
RES
Returns vehicle to set speed if vehicle speed is 40 km/h {25 mph} or more when cruise control is temporarily canceled.
ACCEL
• Press and holding switch increases set speed.
CANCEL
Stops cruise control, but set vehicle speed remains stored in PCM.
Bake switch
A normally open and normally closed switches are built into the brake switch, and when cruise control system operates or releases, condition converts into a signal and is sent to cruise control module (cruise actuator)
-
Cruise control module (cruise actuator)
Controls all function (vehicle speed set, resume, accel, coast), and operates throttle actuator and adjusts vehicle speed.
-
Cruise set indicator light
Indicates when a cruising speed is set.
