• A 2-step air bag deployment control system has been adopted. In case of a frontal or frontal offset collision, an optimal air bag deployment force is matched to the impact force. The inflators for the driver and passenger-side air bag modules have two tiers, and deploy at either a low or high rate, according to the force of the impact.
• Based on the module configuration, operation (deployment) matching the actual type of air bag module or pre-tensioner seat belt setting variation can be controlled. If the module configuration is incomplete or incorrect, the on-board diagnosis function displays a DTC. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION OUTLINE [AIR BAG SYSTEM].) If the SAS control module is replaced, it is necessary to perform the module configuration to match the specifications of the vehicle in which it is being installed. Refer to the Workshop Manual for the procedure.
