NO. 1 DRIVER-SIDE FRONT WINDOW DOES NOT GO UP AND DOWN IN AUTOMATIC MODE


1	Driver-side front window does not go up and down in automatic mode
POSSIBLE CAUSE	• Power window system in fail-safe function (Power window motor heat protection circuit is operating) • No power supply to power window main switch • Power window main switch malfunction (power window control unit malfunction, auto switch malfunction) • Power window motor malfunction (Sensor inside motor malfunction) • Malfunction in wiring harness between power window motor (sensor) and power window main switch


STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position for 3 min. • Turn the ignition switch to ON position. • Initialize the power window system. • Operate the auto open/close function. • Dose the power window operate properly?	Yes	System is normal. The power window system auto open/close function dose not operate temporarily for any of the following reasons: • The power window switch is operated while the power window motor protection circuit (integrated in power window motor) is operating. • The power window main switch power supply is cut off by disconnection of the negative battery cable or removing the fuse.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	• Turn the ignition switch to ON position. • Inspect the two-step down operation. (See BASIC POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INSPECTION.) • Does the two-step down function operate properly?	Yes	Replace the power window main switch. (See POWER WINDOW SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	• Does the sensor built into the power window motor send pulse signals while the power window motor is operating? • Inspect the voltage at the following power window motor terminals: - B (sensor 1 signal) - A (sensor 2 signal) • Is the voltage approx. 12 V?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the power window motor. (See POWER WINDOW MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4	• Does the sensor built into the power window motor send pulse signals while the power window motor is operating? • Inspect the voltage at the following power window main switch (4-pin connector) terminals: - 2C (sensor 1 signal) - 2B (sensor 2 signal) • Is the voltage approx. 12 V?	Yes	Replace the power main switch. (See POWER WINDOW SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4		No	Inspect for an open or short circuit in wiring between the power window motor (sensor) and the power window main switch. Inspect the connection of the power window motor and power window main switch connectors. (damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion) Repair of replace necessary.
