DSC unit mismatched installation

DETECTION CONDITION

•  Detection of situation where vehicle-type input signal and DSC HU/CM information remains incongruent through CAN information

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

•  Illuminates the ABS warning light, TCS/DSC indicator light, and master warning light*¹.

•  Tire pressure monitoring system warning light illuminates after flashes*².

•  Inhibits the ABS, brake assist, TCS, Hill Launch Assist (HLA), vehicle roll prevention function*², DSC, Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC)*², Smart Brake Support (SBS)*², Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)*², Secondary Collision Reduction (SCR)*², and TPMS*² controls.

*¹: Vehicles with Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) and/or Smart Brake Support (SBS).

*²: If equipped.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Mismatched installation of DSC HU/CM

•  Instrument cluster configured improperly.

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	INSPECT DSC HU/CM FOR MISMATCHED INSTALLATION • Verify DSC HU/CM part number. • Has a DSC HU/CM with the correct part number been installed?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Replace with correct DSC HU/CM part number, then go to Step 3. (See DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2	INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONFIGURATION • Does instrument cluster configure properly?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Configure instrument cluster properly, then go to Step 3. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONFIGURATION (USING READ/WRITE FUNCTION).) (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONFIGURATION (USING AS-BUILT DATA).)
3	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnected all disconnect connectors. • Clear DTC from memory. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS [DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace DSC HU/CM, then go to next step. (See DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3		No	Go to the next step.
5	VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCS ARE PRESENT • Are any other DTCs output?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS [DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)].)
5		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
