CAR-NAVIGATION SYSTEM

id092000011400

Display-separated Type

Outline

•  The car-navigation system displays point-of-origin and road guidance maps via the audio unit display and provides guidance and information to the desired point of destination.
Note
•  For the car-navigation system operation, refer to the owner's manual.
•  A TomTom car-navigation unit has been adopted.

Function

Navigation function
•  Calculates route to destination, and provides guidance using the settings made by the user.
•  The navigation system is a hybrid-type system which combines independent navigation and satellite navigation to provide highly accurate detection of the current position based on specialized map matching which identifies the current position by comparing the map information data read from the navigation map data on the SD card with the current position measured by the independent navigation and satellite navigation systems.
Map matching
•  Map matching compares the road configurations of the map information data stored in the SD based on the current position information measured from independent navigation and satellite navigation, and corrects the current position to the most suitable map information data on the route.
Display guidance
•  The remaining distance to destination, branch points, and road names are indicated on the display.
Voice guidance
•  Voice guidance is provided for destination, distance to branch point and heading. The voice guidance is output from the speakers equipped on the vehicle.

Structural view

•  The car-navigation system consists of the car-navigation unit, audio unit, command switch, GPS antenna, voice recognition microphone, and speakers.

Operation

1.  Reads the SD card map data inserted into the car-navigation unit and sends the read data to the audio unit.
2.  When the audio unit NAV switch or the NAV switch on the commander switch is pressed, the system switches to NAVI mode and the navigation screen is displayed in the audio unit display.
3.  The car-navigation unit is a hybrid-type system which combines independent navigation with satellite navigation, calculates position information and route and arrival time to the destination, and displays it in the audio unit display.

Display-integrated Type

Purpose

•  The car navigation system displays point of origin and road guidance maps via a display, provides guidance and information to the desired point of destination, and provides radio or audio information.

Function

Audio function
•  Radio and DVD/CD, iPod, iPhone, USB, and Bluetooth audio devices can be played.
USB movie
―  The image of the USB device connected to the AUX/USB terminal is displayed in the car-navigation unit display.
SD pictures
―  The images in the SD card inserted into the car-navigation unit are displayed in the car-navigation unit display in order.
Note
•  The SD pictures and navigation function are not available simultaneously.
•  The displayed screen when the vehicle is stopped is displayed while the vehicle is being driven because display of the images in the SD card is stopped.
Navigation function
•  Calculates routes to the destination set by the customer and provides guidance using maps and audio.
3D display of branching/merging
―  When the vehicle approaches a highway exit or congested intersection, the map switches to the 3D display.
Rest area display
―  Rest area information is displayed in the car-navigation unit display while the vehicle is being driven on highways.
Green route
―  The route requiring the least fuel consumption or carbon dioxide emission can be searched for energy saving.
Information function
•  The Bluetooth connection, Divx video on demand setup, and system check can be set on the information screen.
Rear mount camera display
•  When an R position signal from the selector lever is received, the car-navigation unit displays the images at the rear of the vehicle taken by the rear mount camera.
Bluetooth (Hands-Free) function
•  Communication between the car-navigation unit and the Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone is performed via radio waves and telephone operations such as making and receiving calls can be done without directly operating the Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.
•  The message received by SMS (Short Message Service) or E-mail is displayed in the vehicle's unit display.
Note
•  Only a mobile phone corresponding to HFP (Hands Free Profile) and MAP (Message Access Profile) can use the incoming message display.

Operation

Audio function (CD/DVD operation)
1.  When a CD/DVD is inserted into the car-navigation unit, laser light is emitted to the CD/DVD in the CD drive of the car-navigation unit. The reflected light is detected by the light sensor and the data recorded on the CD/DVD is converted from a digital signal to an electric signal.
2.  The car-navigation unit converts the electric signal to an audio signal and video signal using the electrical circuit in the car-navigation unit. The audio signal is sent to the audio amplifier via the Bose adapter and the video signal is sent to the car-navigation unit display.
3.  The audio amplifier amplifies the audio signal sent from the car-navigation unit and sends it to the speakers.
4.  The speakers produce audio based on the audio signal sent from the car-navigation unit. The car-navigation unit display displays CD/DVD information based on the video signal.

Audio function (radio mode)
1.   When the ignition is switched to ACC or ON, the car-navigation unit supplies power to the antenna amplifier.
2.  The car-navigation unit detects the radio broadcast selected by the user using the radio tuner in the car-navigation unit based on the electrical signal sent from the glass antenna. The audio signal from the detected radio broadcast is then sent to the audio amplifier via the Bose adapter. In addition, the video signal of the detected radio broadcast is sent to the car-navigation unit display.
3.  The audio amplifier amplifies the audio signal sent from the car-navigation unit and sends it to the speakers.
4.  The speakers produce audio based on the audio signal sent from the car-navigation unit. The car-navigation unit display displays radio information based on the video signal.

Navigation function
1.  The current location is determined and the vehicle mark is indicated at the most suitable location by comparing the map information data read from the SD and the current location received from the GPS antenna.
2.  Voice guidance and screen display are provided for the recommended route to destination.
am6zzn00003038
Bluetooth function (Bluetooth audio)
1.  The car-navigation unit receives information from the Bluetooth-enabled device using the built-in Bluetooth antenna.
2.  The car-navigation unit outputs music data to the audio amplifier (with Bose®) and displays video information in the car-navigation unit display.
3.  When the car-navigation unit button is operated, the car-navigation unit sends the operation information to the Bluetooth-enabled device.
am6zzn00003036
Bluetooth function (Hands-free telephone (HF/TEL) operation)
1.  When a call is received by a registered and connected cell phone, the Bluetooth antenna sends incoming call information to the car-navigation unit.
2.  When the steering switch Pick up button is pressed, the line is opened.
3.  The audio received by the mobile phone is output from the speakers.
4.  Voice spoken into the voice recognition microphone is sent to the Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone by the Bluetooth antenna.
