OIL SEAL (DIFFERENTIAL) REPLACEMENT [D66M-R, D66MX-R]

Caution
•  The sharp edges of the drive shaft can slice or puncture the oil seal. Be careful when installing the drive shaft to the transaxle.

2WD

1.  Remove the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Drain the manual transaxle oil. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT [D66M-R, D66MX-R].)

3.  Disconnect the drive shaft (LH) from the MTX. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the drive shaft (RH) from the MTX. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the oil seal (LH).

6.  Remove the oil seal (RH).

7.  Using the SSTs and a hammer, install a new oil seal (LH).

A: 0.3 mm {0.01 in}
B: 0.3 mm {0.01 in}

8.  Using the SSTs and a hammer, install a new oil seal (RH).

A: 0.3 mm {0.01 in}
B: 0.3 mm {0.01 in}

9.  Coat the lip of each oil seal with transaxle oil.

10.  Install the drive shaft (RH) to the manual transaxle. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

11.  Install the drive shaft (LH) to the manual transaxle. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

12.  Add the specified amount of specified transaxle oil. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT [D66M-R, D66MX-R].)

13.  Install the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)


4WD

1.  Remove the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Drain the manual transaxle oil. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT [D66M-R, D66MX-R].)

3.  Disconnect the drive shaft (LH) from the MTX. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the drive shaft (RH). (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the front crossmember component and No.1 engine mount rubber as a single unit. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove the transfer. (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [D66MX-R].)

7.  Remove the oil seal (LH).

8.  Remove the oil seal (RH).

9.  Using the SSTs and a hammer, install a new oil seal (LH).

A: 0.3 mm {0.01 in}
B: 0.3 mm {0.01 in}

10.  Using the SSTs and a hammer, install a new oil seal (RH).

11.  Coat the lip of each oil seal with transaxle oil.

12.  Install the transfer. (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [D66MX-R].)

13.  Install the front crossmember component and No.1 engine mount rubber as a single unit. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

14.  Install the drive shaft (RH). (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

15.  Install the drive shaft (LH) to the manual transaxle. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

16.  Add the specified amount of specified transaxle oil. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT [D66M-R, D66MX-R].)

17.  Install the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
