Outline

•  The auto light system automatically turns the TNS, headlight, and panel light on/off according to the illumination level above and in front of the vehicle.
•  The auto light system is controlled by the front body control module (FBCM).

Function

•  The auto light system receives a TNS, panel light and headlight illumination/off request signal from the auto light sensor and the front body control module (FBCM) turns the TNS, panel light and headlights on and off.
•  If the upward and forward illumination sensors detect the illumination level at which the TNS, panel light and headlights should be illuminated/turned off, the auto light sensor sends a TNS, panel light and headlight illumination/off request signal.

Operation

•  The auto light system operates when the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on) and the light switch is in the AUTO position.
Note
•  When the ignition is switched ON (engine on or off), the auto light sensor detects the illumination level above and in front of the vehicle regardless of the light switch position.
•  The following illumination level is for reference because it varies depending on the surrounding conditions (weather, reflection off buildings).
•  The illumination level sensitivity of the auto light sensor can be changed. The illumination level shown below is the standard set value. (See LIGHTING SYSTEM PERSONALIZATION.)

Panel light on operation

1.  When the light switch is operated to the AUTO position, a light switch AUTO signal is input to the start stop unit.

2.  The start stop unit sends the light switch AUTO signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via CAN communication.

3.  When the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the auto light sensor detects the illumination level above the vehicle.

4.  When the auto light sensor detects the average 700 lux or less per 1 min, it sends a TNS on signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via LIN communication.

5.  When the front body control module (FBCM) receives the TNS on signal, it turns the panel light on.

Panel light off operation

1.  When the light switch is operated to the AUTO position, a light switch AUTO signal is input to the start stop unit.

2.  The start stop unit sends the light switch AUTO signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via CAN communication.

3.  When the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the auto light sensor detects the illumination level above and in front of the vehicle.

4.  When the auto light sensor detects the average 1,400 lux or more per 1 min, it sends a TNS off signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via LIN communication.

5.  When the front body control module (FBCM) receives the TNS off signal, it turns the panel light off.

Headlight on operation

4.  When the auto light sensor detects the average 2,000 lux or less per 1 min, it sends a TNS and headlight on signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via LIN communication.

5.  When the front body control module (FBCM) receives the headlight on request signal with the dimmer switch in the LO position, it turns the transistor and headlight LO relay on and illuminates the TNS, parking lights, signature wing illumination (with signature wing illumination), and headlight LO. With the dimmer switch in the HI position, it turns the transistor and headlight HI relay on and illuminates the TNS, parking lights, signature wing illumination (with signature wing illumination), and headlight HI.

Headlight off operation

4.  When the auto light sensor detects the average 4,000 lux or more per 1 min, it sends a TNS and headlight off signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via LIN communication.

5.  When the front body control module (FBCM) receives the headlight off request signal with the dimmer switch in the LO position, it turns the transistor and headlight LO relay off and turns the TNS, parking lights, signature wing illumination (with signature wing illumination), and headlight LO off. With the dimmer switch in the HI position, it turns the transistor and headlight HI relay off and turns the TNS, parking lights, signature wing illumination (with signature wing illumination), and headlight HI off.
