Description

•  Only three gauge segments of the regenerative braking power generation gauge are displayed/only one gauge segment of the capacitor accumulation gauge is displayed

Possible Cause

Bypass Mode Is Operating

―  Vehicle electric load (current consumption) is 50 A or more
―  Voltage reduction circuit in DC-DC converter is malfunctioning
―  Battery charge condition is less than 65 %
―  During DPF regeneration control (SKYACTIV-D 2.2)

Instrument cluster incorrect display

•  Instrument cluster malfunction

Other

•  Engine-related part malfunction
•  Transmission-related part malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
VERIFY DTCs
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY MALFUNCTION CONDITION
•  Verify the current display condition of the LCD.
•  Does the i-ELOOP-related gauge in the LCD operate?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 4.
3
ASK CUSTOMER
•  Was the ambient temperature low when the symptom occurred?
Yes
Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and that i-ELOOP does not operate to assure battery power supply.
No
SKYACTIV-2.0 / SKYACTIV-2.5
•  Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and that i-ELOOP does not operate to prioritize battery charging.
SKYACTIV-2.2
•  Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and that i-ELOOP does not operate because of either the following reasons.
―  Prioritize battery charging
―  Prioritize DPF regeneration
4
VERIFY BYPASS MODE OPERATION CONDITION
•  Display PID BYPS_STAT using the M-MDS data logger function.
•  Is BYPS_STAT display “Bypass On”?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect the instrument cluster and replace it if there is any malfunction.
5
VERIFY CAUSE OF BYPASS MODE OPERATION
•  Display PID DCDC_OUT_I and IR_LOAD_I using the M-MDS data logger function.
•  Is the sum of “DCDC_OUT_I” and “IR_LOAD_I” 50 A or more?
Yes
Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and that i-ELOOP does not operate because of the vehicle’s electrical load.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY BATTERY CHARGE CONDITION
•  Display PID BATT_SOC using the M-MDS data logger function.
•  Is “BATT_SOC” value less than 65%?
Yes
Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and that i-ELOOP does not operate to prioritize battery charging.
No
SKYACTIV-2.0 / SKYACTIV-2.5
•  Inspect the instrument cluster and replace it if there is any malfunction.
SKYACTIV-2.2
•  Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY DPF REGENERATION CONDITION
•  Verify the i-stop guidance displayed in the LCD.
•  Is any DPF-related message displayed in the i-stop guidance?
Yes
Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and that i-ELOOP does not operate to prioritize DPF regeneration.
No
Inspect the instrument cluster and replace it if there is any malfunction.
