Rotor Clearance
1. Measure the following clearances.
- (1) Measure the tip clearance between the inner rotor and the outer rotor using a feeler gauge.
-
-
• If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the inner rotor or the outer rotor, or the both.
-
Standard tooth tip clearance between inner rotor and outer rotor
-
0.04—0.18 mm {0.002—0.007 in}
-
Maximum tooth tip clearance between inner rotor and outer rotor
-
0.22 mm {0.0087 in}
- (2) Measure the body clearance between the outer rotor and the oil pump body using a feeler gauge.
-
-
• If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the outer rotor or oil pump body, or both.
-
Standard body clearance between outer rotor and oil pump body
-
0.10—0.19 mm {0.0040—0.0074 in}
-
Maximum body clearance between outer rotor and oil pump body
-
0.25 mm {0.0098 in}
- (3) Measure the side clearance using a straight edge and a feeler gauge.
-
-
• If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the inner rotor or oil pump body, or the both.
-
Oil pump standard side clearance
-
0.04—0.10 mm {0.002—0.003 in}
-
Oil pump maximum side clearance
-
0.15 mm {0.0059 in}
