DTC P252F:00

Engine oil level too high

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM calculates engine oil attenuation based on fuel injection amount during diesel particulate filter regeneration. If the calculated engine oil attenuation amount is more than 20 %, the PCM determines that the engine oil amount level is too high.
Diagnostic support note
•  The FREEZE FRAME DATA is not available.
•  The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Engine oil attenuation by frequently diesel particulate filter regeneration
•  Engine oil data reset procedure does not perform in each engine oil replacements

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION
•  Verify related Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Service Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to available Service Information.
•  If vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY ENGINE OIL AMOUNT
•  Inspect the engine oil amount.
•  Is the engine oil amount above X line on dipstick?
Yes
Adjust the specified engine oil.
Perform the engine oil data reset procedure.
Then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY ENGINE OIL DATA RESET PROCEDURE COMPLETE
•  Does the engine oil data reset procedure each engine oil replacements?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Perform the engine oil data reset procedure. Then go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P252F:00 COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Switch the ignition to ON (engine off).
•  Clear the DTC from PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start the engine.
•  Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
