DETECTION CONDITION
|
• The PCM monitors the fuel level of the fuel tank using the fuel gauge signal from the instrument cluster. If the total of fuel injection amount calculated by the PCM after the fuel level falls below the E-line is above threshold (greater than P0313:00), the PCM determines that the fuel level is low.
Diagnostic support note
• The MIL does not illuminate if the PCM detect the above malfunction.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is not available.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

• Fuel gauge (in instrument cluster) malfunction
• Fuel gauge sender unit malfunction

No

Record the freeze frame data on the repair order, then go to the next step.

• Verify related Service Information availability.
• Is any related Service Information available?

Yes
|
Perform the repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information.
• If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA (MODE2)
• Is DTC P115B:00 on FREEZE FRAME DATA (mode2)?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to troubleshooting for DTC on FREEZE FRAME DATA (mode2).
(See DTC TABLE [MZR-CD 2.2].)

INSPECT WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS LOW FUEL LEVEL OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Refill the fuel above 9 L {2 US gal, 2 lmp gal}.
• Start and warm up the engine.
• Retrieve the DTC using the M-MDS.
• Is the DTC P0313:00, P115A:00 or P115B:00 present?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
If the other DTC or PENDING CODE is stored:
Go to the applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure.
(See DTC TABLE [MZR-CD 2.2].)
If any DTC is not stored:
The troubleshooting is completed (the cause of this DTC is low fuel level), then go to the Step 6.

REINSPECT WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS LOW FUEL LEVEL OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Refill the fuel till fuel level is above 9 L {2 US gal, 2 lmp gal}.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Refill the fuel above 9 L {2 US gal, 2 lmp gal}.
• Start and warm up the engine.
• Retrieve the DTC using the M-MDS.
• Is the DTC P0313:00, P115A:00 or P115B:00 present?

Yes
|
Inspect the fuel gauge.
Repair or replace malfunctioning part, according to inspection result.
Then go to the next step.
|
No
|
If the other DTC or PENDING CODE is stored:
Go to the applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure.
(See DTC TABLE [MZR-CD 2.2].)
If any DTC is not stored:
The troubleshooting is completed (the cause of this DTC is low fuel level), then go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P115B:00 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Start and warm up the engine.
(See OBD DRIVE MODE [MZR-CD 2.2].)
• Is this DTC present?

Yes
|
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE".
• Are any DTCs present?

Yes
|
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

No
|
DTC troubleshooting completed.
