DETECTION CONDITION
|
• The PCM monitors the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve control signal voltage. If the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve control signal voltage is less than 3.0 V for 5 sec. while it is turned to off, the PCM determines that the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve control circuit has malfunction.
Monitoring condition
Diagnostic support note
• The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
• PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• DTCs are stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve connector or terminal malfunction
• EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve malfunction
• Open circuit in wiring harness between EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve terminal A and main relay
• Short to ground in wiring harness between EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve terminal A and main relay
• PCM connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 1CJ
• Open circuit in wiring harness between EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 1CJ
• PCM malfunction

• Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
• Verify related Service Information availability.
• Is any related Service Information available?
|
Yes
|
Perform the repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information.
• If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT POOR CONNECTION OF EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE CONNECTOR
• Switch the ignition to off.
• Disconnect the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve connector.
• Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the terminal and/or connector, then go to Step 9.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

INSPECT EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE
• Inspect the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve.
• Is the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve normal?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve, then go to Step 9.

INSPECT EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Disconnect the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve connector.
• Switch the ignition to ON (Engine off).
• Measure the voltage between EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve terminal A (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is the voltage B+?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Inspect the EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve related fuse condition.
If the fuse is melt-down, repair for short to ground circuit.
If the fuse is deterioration, replace the fuse.
If the fuse is normal, repair for open circuit.
Then go to Step 9.
|

INSPECT EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Inspect for continuity between EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve terminal B (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness for short to ground, then go to Step 9.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT POOR CONNECTION OF PCM CONNECTOR
• Switch the ignition to off.
• Disconnect the PCM connector.
• Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
|
Yes
|
Repair or replace the terminal and/or connector, then go to Step 9.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN
• EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve and PCM connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between EGR cooler bypass valve control solenoid valve terminal B (wiring harness-side) and PCM terminal 1CJ (wiring harness-side).
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness for open circuit, then go to the next step.
|

9
|
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P245C:00 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Switch the ignition to ON.
• Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC present?

Yes
|
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform the “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
• Are any DTCs present?
|
Yes
|
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

No
|
DTC troubleshooting completed.
