VARIABLE AIR DUCT (VAD) CONTROL OPERATION [L5]

• The PCM turns the VAD solenoid valve ON to open the VAD shutter valve when all of the following conditions have been met.

― Engine coolant temperature is above 70 °C {158°F}

― Engine speed is 5,800 rpm or more

― Throttle valve opening angle 50% or more

Inhibition conditions

• When any one of the following conditions are met, the VAD control is inhibited and the VAD shutter valve is constantly open.

― DTC has been stored for the ECT sensor.

― DTC has been stored for the TP sensor.
