Detection Condition

• Short circuit to power supply in wiring harness between windshield wiper motor and BCM

Possible Causes

L.H.D.

• Short circuit to power supply in wiring harness between windshield wiper motor connector terminal E and BCM connector terminal 7J

• Windshield wiper motor malfunction

• BCM malfunction

R.H.D.

• Short circuit to power supply in wiring harness between windshield wiper motor connector terminal A and BCM connector terminal 7J

• Windshield wiper motor malfunction

• BCM malfunction

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION

•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is DTC B1C45:12 displayed?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Switch the ignition to off.

•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair/replace the connector or terminal.

After repair procedure, go to Step 6.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR

•  Inspect the windshield wiper motor.
(See WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR INSPECTION.)

•  Is the windshield wiper motor normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the windshield wiper motor.

(See WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

After replacement, go to Step 6.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Disconnect the BCM connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair/replace the connector or terminal.

After repair procedure, go to Step 6.

INSPECT AUTOSTOP SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY

L.H.D.

•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Switch the ignition to ON.

•  Measure the voltage at windshield wiper motor connector terminal E.

•  Can the voltage be measured?

R.H.D.

•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Switch the ignition to ON.

•  Measure the voltage at windshield wiper motor connector terminal A.

•  Can the voltage be measured?

Yes

Repair/replace the wiring harness.

After repair procedure, go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC

•  Reconnect the disconnected connectors and the negative battery cable.

•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Switch the ignition to ON.

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.

(See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT

•  Are there other DTCs output?

Yes

Perform the corresponding DTC inspection.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

1		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
2	INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR CONNECTOR CONDITION • Switch the ignition to off. • Disconnect the negative battery cable. • Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector. • Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). • Is the connector normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair/replace the connector or terminal. After repair procedure, go to Step 6.
3	INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR • Inspect the windshield wiper motor. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR INSPECTION.) • Is the windshield wiper motor normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the windshield wiper motor. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) After replacement, go to Step 6.
4	INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION • Disconnect the BCM connector. • Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). • Is the connector normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair/replace the connector or terminal. After repair procedure, go to Step 6.
5	INSPECT AUTOSTOP SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY L.H.D. • Reconnect the negative battery cable. • Switch the ignition to ON. • Measure the voltage at windshield wiper motor connector terminal E. • Can the voltage be measured? R.H.D. • Reconnect the negative battery cable. • Switch the ignition to ON. • Measure the voltage at windshield wiper motor connector terminal A. • Can the voltage be measured?	Yes	Repair/replace the wiring harness. After repair procedure, go to the next step.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY DTC • Reconnect the disconnected connectors and the negative battery cable. • Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].) • Switch the ignition to ON. • Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM. (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT • Are there other DTCs output?	Yes	Perform the corresponding DTC inspection.
7		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
