Malfunction Location

• Rear wiper switch circuit malfunction

Detection Condition

• Short to ground in rear wiper switch circuit with the rear wiper switch off

Possible Causes

Vehicles With Wiper Switch On Right Side

• Short circuit to ground in wiring harness between rear wiper and washer switch connector terminal E and BCM connector terminal 3C

• Rear wiper and washer switch malfunction

• BCM malfunction

Vehicles With Wiper Switch On Left Side

• Short circuit to ground in wiring harness between rear wiper and washer switch connector terminal I and BCM connector terminal 3C

• Rear wiper and washer switch malfunction

• BCM malfunction

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION

•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS with the rear wiper switch off.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is DTC B11DC:11 displayed?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Switch the ignition to off.

•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Disconnect the rear wiper and washer switch connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair/replace the connector or terminal.

After repair procedure, go to Step 6.

INSPECT REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH

•  Inspect the rear wiper and washer switch.
(See REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION.)

•  Is the rear wiper and washer switch normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the rear wiper and washer switch.

(See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

After replacement, go to Step 6.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Disconnect the BCM connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair/replace the connector or terminal.

After repair procedure, go to Step 6.

INSPECT REAR WIPER MODE SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND

Vehicles with wiper switch on right side

•  Inspect for continuity between rear wiper and washer switch connector terminal E and body ground.

•  Is there continuity?

Vehicles with wiper switch on left side

•  Inspect for continuity between rear wiper and washer switch connector terminal I and body ground.

•  Is there continuity?

Yes

Repair/replace the wiring harness.

After repair procedure, go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC

•  Reconnect the disconnected connectors and the negative battery cable.

•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS with the rear wiper switch off.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.

(See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT

•  Are there other DTCs output?

Yes

Perform the corresponding DTC inspection.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

1	PERFORM DTC INSPECTION • Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].) • Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS with the rear wiper switch off. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].) • Is DTC B11DC:11 displayed?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
2	INSPECT REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION • Switch the ignition to off. • Disconnect the negative battery cable. • Disconnect the rear wiper and washer switch connector. • Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). • Is the connector normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair/replace the connector or terminal. After repair procedure, go to Step 6.
3	INSPECT REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH • Inspect the rear wiper and washer switch. (See REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION.) • Is the rear wiper and washer switch normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the rear wiper and washer switch. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) After replacement, go to Step 6.
4	INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION • Disconnect the BCM connector. • Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). • Is the connector normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair/replace the connector or terminal. After repair procedure, go to Step 6.
5	INSPECT REAR WIPER MODE SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND Vehicles with wiper switch on right side • Inspect for continuity between rear wiper and washer switch connector terminal E and body ground. • Is there continuity? Vehicles with wiper switch on left side • Inspect for continuity between rear wiper and washer switch connector terminal I and body ground. • Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair/replace the wiring harness. After repair procedure, go to the next step.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY DTC • Reconnect the disconnected connectors and the negative battery cable. • Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].) • Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS with the rear wiper switch off. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM. (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT • Are there other DTCs output?	Yes	Perform the corresponding DTC inspection.
7		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
