Note
•  If any of the following conditions are met, the doors cannot be unlocked by operating the request switch.
―  The auxiliary key is inserted in the key slot.
―  The ignition is in a position other than off.
―  An advanced key is not within the reception area outside of the vehicle

1.  When touch sensor is grasped, a touch sensor signal is input to the keyless control module.

2.  The keyless control module transmits a request signal via all the inside antennas and the outside antenna of the door in which the touch sensor was grasped.

3.  The advanced key receives the request signal from the outside antenna, and transmits the ID data to the keyless receiver.

4.  The keyless receiver transmits the received ID data to the keyless control module.

5.  The keyless control module verifies the ID data and transmits a unlock signal to the BCM if it determines a programmed advanced key is outside the vehicle.

6.  The BCM activates all lock actuators to unlock, and at the same time, flashes the hazard warning light as follows:

―  The hazard warning light flashes two times when the doors are unlocked
Note
•  It takes approx. 1—2 s to unlock since the operations shown in the figure are performed.

Auto re-lock

•  If any of the following operations is not performed for approx. 30 s after pressing the UNLOCK button on the advanced key or after an unlock operation was performed by pressing the request switch, the doors and the trunk lid/liftgate lock automatically.
―  A door or the trunk/liftgate is opened.
―  The auxiliary key is inserted in the key slot.
―  The ignition is switched to ACC or ON.
―  The transmitter (advanced key) is operated. (If the UNLOCK button is pressed, the timer is reset.)
―  Locking was done using the request switch or unlocking was done using the touch sensor.
―  Lock-link switch condition has changed.

Trunk lid/Liftgate opener

•  All doors are locked.
Note
•  If any of the following conditions are met, the liftgate cannot be unlocked by operating the trunk lid/liftgate opener switch.
―  An advanced key is not within outside reception area.

1.  When the trunk lid/liftgate opener switch is pressed, a request switch signal is input to the keyless control module.

2.  The keyless control module transmits a request signal via the outside antenna (rear) inside the rear bumper.

3.  The advanced key receives the request signal from the outside antenna and transmits the ID data to the keyless receiver.

4.  The keyless receiver transmits the received ID data to the keyless control module.

5.  The keyless control module verifies the ID data and transmits an unlatch signal to the BCM if it determines a programmed advanced key is outside the vehicle.

6.  The BCM unlocks the trunk lid/liftgate lock actuator (releases the latch) for approx. 1.5 s when the ignition is switched off or all the following conditions are met.

•  Parking brake is applied (parking brake switch is on)
•  Vehicle speed is 3 km/h {2 mph} or less
Note
•  The trunk lid/liftgate lock actuator operates to unlock approx. 1—2 s after the trunk lid/liftgate opener switch is pressed.

Power Supply Switching

•  The power supply can be switched between off→ACC→ON→off by operating the push button start without inserting a key while inside the vehicle and carrying an advanced key.

1.  Press the push button start without depressing the Clutch pedal (MTX)/Brake pedal (ATX).

2.  The push button start switch signal is input to the keyless control module.

3.  The keyless control module transmits a request signal via all the keyless antennas in the vehicle.

4.  The advanced key receives the request signal from the inside antenna, and transmits ID data to the keyless receiver.

5.  The keyless receiver transmits the received ID data to the keyless control module.

6.  When the keyless control module determines that a new advanced key is in the vehicle, it releases the steering lock unit and switches the ignition to ACC.

―  If the ID verification is not acceptable (for reasons such as an unprogrammed advanced key, or advanced key battery depletion), the steering lock unit lock is not released and the keyless warning light (red) in the instrument cluster and the push button start indicator light are illuminated to indicate that the push button start is inoperable.
―  For vehicles with the immobilizer system, ID verification is performed when the ignition is switched on. If the verification is acceptable, permission is given to start the engine.
―  If the steering lock unit release fails due to pressure from the steering shaft, the buzzer in the instrument cluster activates and the electric steering lock indicator light (amber) flashes.
