AFS (ADAPTABLE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM) OPERATION

•  The AFS control module controls the light-bending on/off according to the signals from the following switches, sensors and modules.
―  AFS OFF switch
―  Light switch
―  Steering angle sensor
―  PCM
•  When the steering wheel is turned to the left, light-bending on the left side is turned on. In addition, when the steering wheel is turned to the right, light-bending on the right side is turned on. Light-bending on both the left and right sides does not occur simultaneously.

Operation Conditions

•  The AFS operates when all of the following conditions are met.
―  Ignition switch : ON (with keyless entry system)
―  Engine switch : ON (with advanced keyless entry and push button start system)
―  AFS OFF switch : OFF (AFS is operating)
―  Light switch : ON (Low beam)

•  When the operation conditions are met and the vehicle conditions are in the illumination region, the light-bending mechanism turns on. Even if the vehicle conditions are no longer in the illumination region, the light-bending mechanism continues to illuminate until the steering wheel angle is 26 degrees or less.

•  When the operation conditions are met and the vehicle conditions are in the illumination region, the light-bending mechanism turns on. Even if the vehicle conditions are no longer in the illumination region, the light-bending mechanism continues to illuminate until the steering wheel angle is 26 degrees or less or the vehicle speed 8 km/h {5 mph} or less.

•  The light-bending mechanism turns off 30 s after it turns on. The light-bending mechanism will not turn on again unless the steering wheel angle is 26 degrees or less after the illumination has turned off, even if the vehicle enters the illumination region.
Note
•  The bending-light continuous illumination control is equipped or not equipped on the vehicle depending on the vehicle’s period of manufacture.
