Gear position indicator light does not illuminate in M range
DESCRIPTION
•  Gear position indicator light in instrument cluster does not illuminate in M range with the ignition switch at ON.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  M range switch, gear position indicator light or related wiring harness malfunction
Note
•  Before following the troubleshooting steps, make sure that the Automatic Transmission On-Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transmission Basic Inspection are conducted. (See BASIC INSPECTION [SJ6A-EL].)

Diagnostic procedure

•  Do other indicator lights illuminate with the ignition switch at ON?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect the meter fuse.

•  Access TCM PIDs MNL_SW and TR using the M-MDS.
•  Monitor the PIDs at all selector lever positions.
•  Are each PID values normal?
Yes
Inspect the instrument cluster.
No
Inspect the M range switch.
•  If the M range switch is normal, inspect for continuity between the M range switch and TCM terminal 2G.

•  Verify test results.
―  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
―  If malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
•  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the TCM.
