Control Valve Component Descriptions

Component

Function

N-R accumulator
Reduces shift shock generated when R position is selected from N position, by moderating rapid hydraulic pressure increase when the reverse clutch and low and reverse brake are applied.
N-D accumulator
Reduces shift shock generated when D range is selected from N position, by moderating rapid hydraulic pressure increase when the forward clutch is applied.
1-2 accumulator
Reduces shift shock generated during 1GR→2GR shifting and 3GR→4GR shifting, by moderating rapid hydraulic pressure increase when the 2-4 brake band is applied.
Bypass valve
Controls 3-4 clutch application timing and shift shock during 2GR→3GR shifting.
Cutback valve
Controls modifier pressure applied to the pressure regulator valve.
3-2 timing valve
Controls 2-4 brake band apply side pressure during 1GR→2GR shifting in all conditions, and 2GR→3GR shifting at low ATF temperature.
Pressure modifier accumulator
Stabilizes modifier pressure adjusted by the pressure modifier valve, and prevents its pulsation.
3-4 shift valve
Automatically shifts between 3GR and 4GR based on solenoid valve ON-OFF signals controlled by the PCM.
TCC shift valve
Controls TCC operation based on solenoid valve ON-OFF signals controlled by the PCM.
Coast timing valve
Controls coasting clutch application timing.
Pressure modifier valve
Converts solenoid reducing pressure to modifier pressure that matches accelerator pedal depression degrees (engine output).
2-3 shift valve
Automatically shifts between 2GR and 3GR based on solenoid valve ON-OFF signals controlled by the PCM.
1-2 shift valve
Automatically shifts between 1GR and 2GR based on solenoid valve ON-OFF signals controlled by the PCM.
Low reducing valve
While in 1 range 1GR, reduces shift shock during 2GR→1GR shifting by reducing low and reverse brake application pressure and capacity.
Solenoid reducing valve
Converts line pressure into solenoid reducing pressure which acts on the pressure control solenoid.
Converter relief valve
Prevents torque converter pressure from exceeding a specified level.
2-3 timing valve
Controls 2-4 brake release pressure and 3-4 clutch pressure during 2GR→3GR shifting.
Pressure regulator valve
Adjusts line pressure generated by the oil pump to pressure that matches each driving condition.
Manual valve
Switches line pressure paths when the selector lever is shifted.
2-3 accumulator*
Reduces shift shock generated during 2GR→3GR shifting, by moderating rapid hydraulic pressure increase when the 3-4 clutch is applied.

Mounted on the converter housing.
