TRANSFER CASE REAR OUTPUT SHAFT FLANGE REMOVAL[LA4AX-EL (CD4E)]

1.  Mark the drive shaft relative to the companion flange.

2.  Remove the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Using the SST, remove the pinion nut.

Caution

•  Rotational torque of the companion flange must be measured and recorded for correct pinion bearing preload when reassembled.

4.  Mark the companion flange relative to the pinion spline.

5.  Using the SST, remove the companion flange.
