MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•   Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
Caution
•  Brake fluid will damage painted surfaces. Be careful not to spill any on painted surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled, wipe it off immediately.

1.  Disconnect the cruise actuator. (AJ (3.0 L Duratec) with cruise control system) (See CRUISE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

2.  Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.

3.  Using a suitable suction device, drain the reserve tank.

4.  Disconnect the brake pipes and plug the pipes and the master cylinder ports.

5.  Remove the nuts and the brake master cylinder.

(1)  Remove the nuts.
(2)  Remove the master cylinder.

6.  When replacing the master cylinder, replace the reserve tank.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

8.  After replacement, bleed the master cylinder. (See AIR BLEEDING (BRAKE SYSTEM).)
