DISC PLATE MACHINING

1. Inspect wheel bearing runout and correct if necessary.
2. Remove the wheels and tires.
3. Remove the caliper.
4. Inspect the brake pad. If below specification, replace the brake pad with a new one. (See DISC PAD (FRONT) REPLACEMENT.)
5. Measure and record the disc plate thickness. After machining, if the disc plate is at or below specification, replace with a new one. The specification is stamped on the disc plate. Do not machine a new disc plate.
6. For vehicles equipped with a two-piece hub and brake disc component:
7. Using the special tool, machine the disc plates. After machining, verify that the disc plate meets the thickness specification.
8. Using a dial gauge, verify that the disc plate lateral runout is now within specification.
9. Remove the hub adapter.
10. Remove any remaining metal chips from the machining operation.
11. For vehicles equipped with a two-piece hub and brake disc component:
12. Install the caliper. (See CALIPER (FRONT) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
13. Install the tire and wheel assembly. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
14. Verify that the brake system operates normally.
