Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the rear def relay.
Inspect the rear def relay.
Is the rear def relay normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the rear def relay.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Disconnect the SJB J-02 connector.
Measure the voltage at the SJB J-02 terminal A.
Is the voltage more than 10 V?

Yes
|
Go to the Step 13.
|
No
|
Repair the related wiring harness.
|

|
INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR VOLTAGE
Connect the rear def relay.
Disconnect the filament connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Press the rear window defroster switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at the filament terminal 1A.
Is the voltage more than 10 V?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the Step 6.
|

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the filament connector.
Measure the resistance between the filament terminal 2A and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
|
Replace the rear window glass.
|
No
|
Repair the related wiring harness.
|

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the SJB J-03 connector.
Measure the resistance between the SJB J-03 terminal A and the filament terminal 1A.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair the related wiring harness.
|

|
INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Disconnect the SJB J-05 connector.
Disconnect the rear window defroster switch connector.
Measure the resistance between the SJB J-05 terminal N and the rear window defroster switch terminal D.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair the related wiring harness.
|

|
INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the rear window defroster switch connector.
Disconnect the rear def relay.
Measure the resistance between the rear window defroster switch terminal D and ground.
Is the resistance more than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
|
Go to Step 10.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

INSPECT SJB FOR INTERNAL SHORT
Disconnect the SJB J-05 connector.
Measure the resistance between rear window defroster switch terminal D and ground.
Is the resistance more than 10,000 ohms?
|
Yes
|
Go to the Step 12.
|
No
|
Repair the related wiring harness.
|

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Measure the resistance between rear window defroster switch terminal B and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair the related wiring harness.
|
||

|
INSPECT REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER SWITCH
Measure the resistance between the rear window defroster switch terminal D and B, while pressing and releasing the switch.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms with the switch pressed and more than 10,000 ohms with the switch released?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the rear window defroster switch.
|

|
INSPECT SJB OPERATION
Disconnect all SJB connectors.
Inspect for the following items:
• Corrosion
• Terminal separation
Connect all the connectors and verify that their positions are correct.
Operate the system and inspect for any malfunction.
Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Replace the SJB.
|
No
|
The malfunction may result from loose connectors or corrosion.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
