Detection Condition

•  The PCM has detected unprogrammed key ID number.

Possible Cause

•  No keys have been programmed after replacing the PCM.
•  Unprogrammed key used
•  Attempt made to program a ninth key
•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY NUMBER OF PROGRAMMED KEYS
•  Using the M-MDS, perform the PID/data monitor inspection and confirm the number of programmed keys.
•  Are one or more keys programmed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 3.

VERIFY NUMBER OF PROGRAMMED KEYS
•  Using the M-MDS, perform the PID/data monitor inspection and confirm the number of programmed keys.
•  Are eight keys programmed?
Yes
Using the M-MDS, clear the key ID numbers if necessary, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT THE PCM
•  Using the M-MDS, program the key ID number.
•  Using the programmed key, turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
•  Is the DTC displayed again?
―  Security light: 15
―  M-MDS: B1601
Yes
Replace the PCM and perform the resetting procedure for the immobilizer system when replacing the PCM.
No
DTC inspection completed.
