INSPECT FOR GEM DTC
Perform the DTC inspection for GEM.
Is DTC B1317 or B1318 displayed?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.

No
|
Refer to Symptom Troubleshooting Chart [INTERIOR LIGHTS]. (See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART[INTERIOR LIGHTS].)

|
INSPECT GEM VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at GEM terminal 1B.
Is the voltage between 10—18 V?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Inspect the charge/discharge system.
|

INSPECT GEM OPERATION
Disconnect all the GEM connectors.
Inspect for the following items:
• Corrosion
• Terminal separation
Connect all the connectors and verify that their positions are correct.
Operate the system and inspect for any malfunction.
Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Replace the GEM. (See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No
|
The malfunction may result from loose connectors or corrosion.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
