1.  Operate the wiper/washer systems and verify the malfunction indicated by the customer.

2.  Referring to the following chart, perform visual inspection for obvious mechanical and electrical malfunctions.

•  Wiper linkage
•  Washer nozzle
•  Washer hose
•  R.WIPER 10 A fuse
•  WIPER 20 A fuse
•  Wiper and washer switch
•  Ignition relay
•  Windshield wiper motor
•  Windshield washer motor
•  Rear wiper relay
•  Rear washer motor
•  Related wiring harness
•  Generic electronic module (GEM)

3.  If the cause of the indicated or obvious malfunction is detected, repair as necessary before going to the next step.

4.  Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS.

5.  If any DTC related to the malfunction is read, refer to the “DTC TABLE [WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS]” and continue malfunction diagnosis.

6.  If any DTC related to the malfunction is not read, refer to the “SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART [WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS]” and continue malfunction diagnosis.
