INSPECT HIGH BEAM OPERATION
Turn the ignition switch off.
Verify that the high beam operates with the headlight switch set to the high beam position.
Does the high beam operate normally?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Refer to Section 09-18.
|

INSPECT POWER SUPPLY
Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
Turn on the high beam.
Measure the voltage at instrument cluster terminal 2N (harness-side).
Is the voltage more than 10 V?
|
Yes
|
Go to Step 4.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT OR SHORT TO GROUND
Turn off the high beam.
Disconnect the combination switch connector.
Measure the resistance between instrument cluster terminal 2N (harness-side) and combination switch terminal D (harness-side).
Measure the resistance between instrument cluster terminal 2N (harness-side) and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and combination switch, and more than 10,000 ohms between instrument cluster and ground?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness. Inspect the system for normal operation.

|
INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GROUND CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition switch off.
Measure the resistance between instrument cluster terminal 3I (harness-side) and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness. Inspect the system for normal operation.

|
INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
Inspection:
• Corrosion
• Terminal separation
Connect the instrument cluster connector and verify that its position is correct.
Operate the system and inspect for any malfunction.
Is any malfunction still present?

Yes
|
Replace the instrument cluster. Inspect the system for normal operation.
|
No
|
The system operates normally. The malfunction may result from loose connectors or corrosion. Clear the DTC. Repeat the self-test.
