INSPECT BACK-UP LIGHT OPERATION
Operate the back-up light.
Does the back-up light operate normally?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No
|
Refer to Section 09-18.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at instrument cluster terminal 1O (L3), 2A (AJ (3.0L Duratec)).
Is the voltage more than 10 V?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.

No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness. Inspect the system for normal operation.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
INSPECTION
• Corrosion
• Terminal separation
• Connection status
Connect all the connectors.
Operate the system and inspect for any malfunction.
Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Replace the instrument cluster. Inspect the system for normal operation.
|
No
|
The system operates normally. The malfunction may result from loose connectors or corrosion.
