INSPECT SHIFT LOCK MODULE
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the shift lock module connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Connect a jumper wire with a fuse between shift lock module terminal B (harness-side) and ground.
Can the key be removed from the steering lock?

Yes
|
Replace the shift lock module.
Inspect the system for normal operation.

No
|
Remove the jumper wire.
Go to the next step.

INSPECT SHIFT LOCK MODULE FOR OPEN
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the ignition switch connector.
Measure the resistance between shift lock module terminal B (harness-side) and ignition switch terminal E (harness-side).
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
|
Replace the ignition switch. (See IGNITION SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
Inspect the system for normal operation.

No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness.
Inspect the system for normal operation.
