STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
INSPECT POWER SUPPLY TO HORN RELAY
Remove the horn relay.
Measure the voltage between horn relay terminals (D, E) (CJB-side)and ground.
Is the voltage more than 10 V?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness. Inspect the system for normal operation.
2
INSPECT HORN RELAY
Inspect the horn relay.
Is the horn relay normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the horn relay. Inspect the system for normal operation.
3
INSPECT HORN SWITCH SIGNAL
Measure the resistance between horn relay terminal A (CJB-side) and ground under the following conditions.
•  The horn switch is depressed: Less than 5 ohms
•  The horn switch is not depressed: 10,000 ohms or more
Is the resistance normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 5.
4
INSPECT CIRCUIT BETWEEN HORN RELAY AND HORN
Measure the resistance between horn relay terminal C (CJB-side) and horn (LH) terminal A (harness-side) or horn (RH) terminal A (harness-side).
Measure the resistance between horn relay terminal C (CJB-side) and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between horn relay and horn, and more than 10,000 ohms between horn relay and ground?
Yes
Replace the horn. Inspect the system for normal operation.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness. Inspect the system for normal operation.
5
INSPECT CIRCUIT BETWEEN HORN RELAY AND CLOCK SPRING
Disconnect the clock spring connector.
Measure the resistance between clock spring terminal A (harness-side) and horn relay terminal A (CJB-side).
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness. Inspect the system for normal operation.
6
INSPECT HORN SWITCH
Measure the resistance between clock spring terminal A (harness-side) and ground under the following conditions.
•  The horn switch is depressed: Less than 5 ohms
•  The horn switch is not depressed: 10,000 ohms or more
Is the resistance normal?
Yes
Replace the clock spring.
No
Replace the driver-side air bag module. Inspect the system for normal operation.
