HEADLIGHT AIMING

1.  Set up a screen as shown in the figure right for aiming the headlights.

2.  Adjust the tire pressure to the specification.

3.  Position the unloaded vehicle on a flat, level surface.

4.  Seat one person on the driver’s seat.

5.  Position the vehicle straight ahead and perpendicular to a wall and set the headlights 3 m {0.98 ft} from the screen.

6.  While adjusting one headlight, mask the other.

7.  Start the engine to charge the battery.

8.  Turn on the lower-beam headlights.

9.  Set the tester to the headlight middle point.

10.  Set the headlight leveling switch to “0” position. (Vehicles with headlight leveling switch)

11.  Adjust the headlights by turning the adjusting screws as shown in the figure.

Note
•  If the adjusting screws are tightened first, then loosened, they will continue to loosen when the vehicle is in motion and may cause the headlights to become misaligned. Always turn the screws in the tightening direction.

12.  Verify that the brightness at the measurement point is 6400 cd or above.

•  If the brightness is less than 6400 cd, adjust the brightness to 6400 cd or more at the measurement point with the elbow point within the area shown in the figure (shaded area) by turning the aiming adjusting screw.
