Start-up Procedure

1.  Turn the ignition switch off.

2.  Press and hold the odometer/tripmeter switch, and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

3.  Press and hold the odometer/tripmeter switch until "TEST" appears on the LCD. (within 5 to 8 seconds)

4.  When "TEST" appears, release the odometer/tripmeter switch within 3 seconds.

5.  Push the odometer/tripmeter switch to select a check code.

Description

GAGE
Activates gauge sweep of all gauges, then displays the present gauge values. Also carries out the checksum test on ROM and EEPROM.
All LCD segments illuminated
Illuminates all LCD segments.
bulb
Illuminates all micro-controlled warning and indicator lights and LEDs.

Displays hexadecimal value for EE level (used when requesting assistance from the hotline).
DT
Displays hexadecimal code for the final manufacturing date.
CF1
Displays hex coding for the first byte of module configuration settings. Speedometer scaling 0=5% bias, 1=2% bias; overspeed warning 1=enabled; overspeed trip point 0=100 km/h, 1=120 km/h; ABS option 1=present; reverse warning 1=enabled; safety belt chime 1= enabled; safety belt timeout 0=none, 1=0-60 seconds; theft indicator 1=flash with key off.
CF2
Displays hex coding of the second byte of module configuration settings. Transaxle type 0=automatic transaxle, 1= manual transaxle; safety belt telltale, 1=enabled; key reminder chime, 1=enabled; engine type, 1=AJ (3.0L Duratec) engine; seat belt reminder, 1=enabled; check fuel cap, 1=enabled; TNS illumination timeout, 1=enabled; TNS illumination timeout time value, 0=30s, 1=600s.

CF5
Displays hex coding of NVM module configuration settings. Dimming enabled/disabled 1=enabled; RH/LH drive 1=RH drive; rear fog 1=enabled English/metric odometer 1=English.
DTC ####
Displays continuous DTCs. Pressing the reset button will display any DTCs stored before proceeding to the next step.
E ####.#
Displays English speed value being input, the speedometer will indicate present speed.
Blank ####
Displays metric speed value being input, the speedometer will indicate present speed.
t ####
Displays the tachometer value being input to the instrument cluster. Tachometer will indicate present speed. Display will show “----” if input is not received, if input received is invalid for one second or more, or if speed is 0.
F ###
Displays the present fuel level being input to the instrument cluster as a ratio. If the value displayed is 255, the circuit is open. If the value displayed is between 000 and 009, the circuit is shorted. The normal range will be between 10 and 254. If the value displayed is 250 the gauge should read full, if the value displayed is 30 the gauge should read empty.
FP ###
Displays the present fuel level percent status in decimal. Display will read between 0 and 254 for normal range with 255 indicating and open or short.

Displays the last temperature gauge input value from the SCP (J1850) line. The temperature gauge will indicate the present temperature in degrees Celsius.
odo ###
Displays the odometer input received via the SCP (J1850) line in a value from 0 to 254. A value reading of 255 indicates invalid data.

Displays the trip odometer value in miles.
Ebd
Displays ABS EBD input, or ABS command for brake warning; O = fail, G = OK, nc = option not present.
ABS
Displays ABS TT input or ABS warning command; O = fail. G = OK, nc = option not present.

Displays the present battery voltage.
HSd
Displays present status of high voltage shutdown; 0 = voltage not high, 1 = over voltage shutdown.

Displays TNS switch input; b = on (B+), O = off.

Displays present dimming switch input; <64 = dim up, 64-190 = dim down, >190 = no change, nc = not configured.

Display of cluster dimming step values from 0-21; 0 = dimming off, nc = no dimming for vehicle.

Displays input status of key-in steering lock; b = key-in (B+), O = key out, nc = key-in chime disabled.
HLP
Displays input status of headlamp switch; b = headlamps on, O = headlamps off, nc = not configured.
door
Displays input status of door ajar switch; G = door ajar, O = door closed.
Stbt
Displays input status of the seat belt; G = seat belt attached, O = seat belt not attached, nc = seat belt telltale disabled.
FFOG
Displays input status of the front fog switch; b = front fog switch pressed (B+), O = front fog switch not pressed, nc = not configured.
rFOG
Displays input status of the rear fog switch; G = rear fog switch pressed (GND), O = rear fog switch not pressed, nc = not configured.
FOGF
Displays input status of the fog relay overcurrent feedback circuit when the fog relay is commanded on; -- = relay not commanded, 0 = fog relay output short to B+ or overcurrent, 1=fog relay output okay or short to GND, nc = not configured.
Prnd
Displays a hexadecimal value for the PRNDL for 1st gear, 2nd gear, drive, neutral, reverse and park.
PAr
Displays input status of the park switch; G = park, O = not park, nc = manual transmission configured.
Cr
ON/START sense circuit check; b = input high (B+), O = input low (open).
Ac
ON/ACC sense circuit check; b = input high (B+), O = input low (open).
ArbC
Displays the input status of the air bag chime request; G = air bag chime on, O = air bag chime off
Ch
Displays either the chime last sounded by the cluster or the chime presently sounding; A = air bag chime, b = belt minder, h = headlamps on, I = key in the ignition, O = overspeed, r = reverse gear, S = safety belt, t = trip select/reset, -- = none.
CHE ##
Displays 8 bit hexadecimal value of the SCP check engine (MIL) telltale command; -- = SCP message timeout (5 seconds) or received at SCP initial with invalid data, $FF=invalid, $01 = off, $02 = on, $03 = flash, ($04-$FE)= not valid data.
CS XX
Displays the last SCP charging system state status received; -- = status not received at key on or received at SCP initial with invalid data, $20 = OK-engine on (TT off), $21 = OK-engine off (TT on), $22 = low voltage (TT on), $23 = high voltage (TT on), $24 = generator fault-not charging (TT on),$25 = generator fault-charging (TT on), nc = not configured.
