THERMOSTAT CONSTRUCTION/OPERATION [L3]
BUE011215171N01
Construction
• A wax-type thermostat with a jiggle-valve has been adopted.
Operation
• When the engine coolant temperature is below 83°C {181°F} (L.H.D.), 75°C {167°F} (R.H.D.), the thermostat stops the circulation of radiator coolant from the radiator to improve engine warming performance. When the engine coolant temperature is between 88-92°C {191-197°F} (L.H.D.), 80-84°C {176-183°F} (R.H.D.), the thermostat begins opening the valve and engine coolant flows to the radiator to stabilize engine coolant temperature.
