Engine speed and vehicle speed problem

DETECTION CONDITION

• The PCM monitors the engine speed and the vehicle speed, if the engine speed and vehicle speed is above threshold, the PCM determines that IAT sensor circuit has malfunction.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Wheel slippage (water, ice, mud, and snow)
• Excessive engine speed in neutral
• The vehicle drive at a high rate of speed
• PCM malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
• Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
• Verify related service repair information availability.
• Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
• If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE CONDITION
• Was the vehicle operating in any of the follow conditions?
- Water, ice, mud, and snow causing wheel slippage.
- Excessive engine speed in neutral.
- The vehicle driven at high rate of speed.
Yes
Go to the next step. (When return the vehicle to the customer, explain about DTC P 1270.)
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P1270 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the WDS or equivalent.
• Start the engine.
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE".
• Are any DTC present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
