2	MIL ILLUMITATES
DESCRIPTION	The MIL is illuminated incorrectly.
POSSIBLE CAUSE	• The PCM illuminates for emission-related concern (DTC is stored in PCM). • Instrument cluster malfunction Note • If the MIL flashes at steady rate, a misfire condition could possibly exist.


STEP	INSPECTION	RESULTS	ACTION
1	Connect the WDS or equivalent to the DLC-2. Retrieve any DTC. Are there DTC displayed?	Yes	DTC is displayed: • Go to the appropriate DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [YF (2.0L Zetec)].)
1		No	No DTC is displayed: • Inspect instrument cluster operation.
2	Inspect for the following wiring harnesses and connectors: • Between PCM terminal 15 and instrument cluster terminal 8 • Between PCM terminal 16 and instrument cluster terminal 7 Are there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
2		No	Inspect the instrument cluster.
3	Verify test results. • If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. (See ENGINE SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING [YF (2.0L Zetec)].) • If any malfunction remains, inspect related service information and, repair or diagnosis accordingly. - If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed. - If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.
