ENGINE TUNE-UP [AJ (3.0L Duratec)]

ENGINE TUNE-UP PREPARATION

1. Warm up the engine.

(1) Increase the engine speed to between 2,500 and 3,000 rpm until the main fan and additional fan start operating.

(2) When the main fan and additional fan start operating, release the accelerator pedal and wait until the fans stop operating.

2. Connect the WDS or equivalent to the DLC-2.

IGNITION TIMING INSPECTION

Note

• The ignition timing cannot be adjusted.

• The WDS or equivalent is required to verify the ignition timing.

1. Perform the engine tune-up preparation.

2. Verify that the ignition timing (WDS: SPARKADV PID) is approx. 10 degrees using the PID/data monitor function of the WDS or equivalent.

3. Verify that ignition timing advances when the engine speed increases gradually.

IDLE SPEED INSPECTION

Note

• Idle speed is not adjustable.

1. Perform the engine tune-up preparation.

2. Idle speed verification requires the PID/data a monitor function of the WDS or equivalent.

Idle speed

600-900 rpm (P-position)

IDLE MIXTURE INSPECTION

1. Warm up the engine.

(1) Increase the engine speed to between 2,500 and 3,000 rpm until the main fan and additional fan start operating.

(2) When the main fan and additional fan start operating, release the accelerator pedal and wait until the fans stop operating.

2. Set the CO and HC tester.

3. Verify that the CO and HC concentrations are within the regulation.

CO, HC concentration

CO concentration: 1.0% or less.

HC concentration: 300 ppm or less.
