ENGINE TUNE-UP PREPARATION

1. Warm up the engine.

(1) Increase the engine speed to 2,500-3,000 rpm until the main and additional fans start running.
(2) When the main and additional fans start running, release the accelerator pedal and wait until the fans stop.

2. Connect the WDS or equivalent to the DLC-2.

IGNITION TIMING INSPECTION

Caution
• Changing the CKP sensor installation location while attempting to adjust the ignition timing could cause an engine malfunction. Make sure to install the CKP sensor as specified.
Note
• The ignition timing cannot be adjusted.
• The WDS or equivalent is required to verify the ignition timing.

1. Using the WDS PID/data monitor function, verify that the ignition timing (WDS: SPARKADV) is approx. 10°.

2. Gradually increase the engine speed and verify that the ignition timing advances accordingly.

IDLE SPEED INSPECTION

Note
• The idle speed cannot be adjusted.
• The WDS or equivalent is required to verify the ignition timing.

1. Using the WDS PID/data monitor function, verify that the engine speed (WDS:RPM) is as shown below.

IDLE MIXTURE INSPECTION

1. Warm up the engine.

(1) Increase the engine speed to 2,500-3,000 rpm until the main and additional fans start running.
(2) When the main and additional fans start running, release the accelerator pedal and wait until the fans stop.

2. Set the CO and HC tester.

3. Verify that the CO and HC concentrations are within the regulation.

CO, HC concentration
CO concentration: 1.0 % or less
HC concentration: 300 ppm or less
