Flexplate

Removal

1. Remove the transaxle. For additional information, refer to Section 307-01.

2. Remove the bolts and the flexplate.

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Flywheel

Removal

1. Remove the clutch. For additional information, refer to Section 308-01.

2. Remove the bolts and the flywheel.

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal

Removal

1. Remove the flexplate. For additional information, refer to Flexplate in this section. (Automatic transaxle vehicles)

2. Remove the flywheel. For additional information, refer to Flywheel in this section. (Manual transaxle vehicles)

Caution
• Use care to avoid damaging the crankshaft sealing surface.

3. Use the special tool to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal. (All vehicles)

4. Inspect the crankshaft rear oil seal area.

Installation

Note
• Coat the rear oil seal area and the crankshaft rear oil seal lip with Super Premium SAE 5W-20 Motor Oil or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSS-MZC153-H.
• Make sure the crankshaft rear oil seal is on correctly and that the edges are not rolled over.

1. Using the special tools install the crankshaft rear oil seal. (All vehicles)

2. Install the flywheel. For additional information, refer to Flywheel in this section. (Manual transaxle vehicles)

3. Install the flexplate. For additional information, refer to Flexplate in this section. (Automatic transaxle vehicles)
