VARIABLE INTAKE AIR SHUTTER VALVE ACTUATOR INSPECTION [L3]

id0113a2803000

1. Remove the air hose between the air cleaner and throttle body.

2. Verify that the vacuum hose is completely connected to the VIS shutter valve actuator.

3. Disconnect the vacuum hose connecting variable intake air shutter valve actuator and variable intake air solenoid valve, then install the vacuum pump to the vacuum hose.

Note
• Since the variable intake air shutter valve actuator rod has a cover, it cannot be detected visually from the outer-side. Therefore, when inspecting the actuator, verify the rod movement using a mirror inserted from under the actuator.

4. When applying vacuum to the variable intake air shutter valve actuator, verify that the rod is as indicated in the figure.

• If it can be verified, inspect the vacuum hose for disconnection or damage.
• If it cannot be verified, replace the intake manifold.
