FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)]

• Fuel is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing death or serious injury and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Line Safety Procedure", while referring to the "BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION".

• Fuel is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing death or serious injury and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always perform the "Fuel Leakage Inspection After Pump Unit Installation" for fuel pump unit removal/installation.

1. Perform the fuel line safety procedure. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

2. Remove the battery cover.

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

4. Lift the rear seat cushion (LH).

5. Remove the scuff plate and turn over the carpet.

6. Remove the service hole cover.

7. Disconnect the fuel pump unit connector.

8. Disconnect the fuel and vapor lines from the fuel tank. (See QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

9. Remove the fuel-filler cap.

10. Remove the fuel pump unit using the SST.

Using SST (310-069)

Note

• Replace the gasket with a new one.

11. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Fuel pump unit tightening torque

80 N·m {82 kgf·m, 59 ft·lbf}

12. Start the engine and visually inspect for leakage.
