SPARK PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)]

Removal

1. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs. (See SPARK PLUG WIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].)

Note

• If an original spark plug is reused, replace it in the same cylinder from which it was removed. Replacement spark plugs can be used in any cylinder.

• Use compressed air to remove any foreign material from the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.

2. Remove the spark plugs.

3. Inspect the spark plugs. (See SPARK PLUG INSPECTION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].)

4. Clean the spark plugs with a wire brush or a professional spark plug cleaner (follow the manufacturers instructions).

Installation

1. Adjust the plug gap as required.

2. Install the spark plugs.

Caution

• Apply small amount of the specified dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug boot, then install the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.

- Specified grease: Motorcraft XG-3A

3. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs. (See SPARK PLUG WIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].)
