PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

• The normal operating temperature of the exhaust system is very high. Never attempt to remove any part of the system until it has cooled. Be especially careful when working around the catalytic converters. The temperature of the converter rises to high level after only a few min of engine operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
1. Lift up the vehicle.
2. Index-mark the pinion and yoke to the rear of the propeller shaft.
3. Remove the bolts and discard.

• When a new bolt is used, apply locking compound to the bolt.

• Do not reuse the bolts. Install new bolts only or damage to the vehicle will occur.
4. Remove the GND strap bolt.
5. Remove and discard the propeller shaft center bearing nuts.

• Do not reuse the center bearing nuts. Install new nuts only or damage to the vehicle will occur.
6. Remove the power take off bolts and washers.

(1) Discard the bolts and washers.

Caution
-
• Do not reuse the CV joint bolts and washers. Install new bolts and washers only or damage to the vehicle will occur.

• When a new bolt is used, apply locking compound to the bolt.
7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
