1. Inspect the lining surface for discoloration and grease adhesion.
2. Inspect the torsion spring for weakness and the rivet for looseness.
3. Using a vernier caliper, measure the depth between the lining surface and the rivet head.
4. Measure the clutch disc runout using a dial gauge.
5. Use an emery cloth to remove minor imperfections in the clutch disc lining surface.
6. Inspect for wear or rust on the splines. If necessary, clean them with an emery cloth.
7. Inspect the clutch disc for cracking, scoring, discoloration or other surface marks. Replace the clutch disc if necessary.
